Pastoral Letter, January 2025
Dear Members and Friends of Forest Kirk, Carluke
As we begin 2025, with its fresh hopes and unwritten stories, we pause to reflect on the blessings and shared experiences of the past year - a year that will forever be etched in our hearts as the year Carluke: St Andrew's and Carluke: St John's united to form Forest Kirk, Carluke (Church of Scotland). This historic moment marks a new chapter in our journey as a congregation bound by faith and purpose. The psalmist reminds us:
God's faithfulness has been evident in every step of this transformative journey. I am deeply grateful for your love, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout the past year. Your faithfulness in worship, commitment to service, and generosity have been a constant source of joy and inspiration.
On a personal note, I am deeply grateful for the heart-warming surprise 50th birthday celebration held on Tuesday, 17 December 2024. It was a touching reminder of the fellowship and sense of community that define our faith community. Your kindness and thoughtful contributions made it unforgettable. Through your collective generosity, we raised £1,500, including £980 from our congregation, which has blessed others in significant ways:
- £700 was donated to the Clydesdale Food Bank to assist families experiencing hardship in our community.
- £800 will be directed towards Education Nigeria, enabling young people to thrive through education.
These acts of love and kindness embody the heart of our congregation. Together, we are not just hearers of the Word but doers, living out God's call to love our neighbours.
As we journey through 2025, I encourage you to embrace our shared spirit of community, service and hope. With courage, let us move forward, placing our trust in the unwavering promises of God and seeking His guidance in all that we do. May the New Year bring you and your loved ones renewed strength, deepened faith, and abundant blessings.
With gratitude and prayers for God's richest blessings,
Rev. Dr. Elijah Obinna
Minister
